Splitting a PDF lets you extract specific pages or divide a large document into smaller files. This is useful when you need to share only part of a document, reduce file size for email, or organize a long report into logical sections. Our splitter offers two modes: range-based extraction (e.g., pages 3-7) and every-N-pages splitting (e.g., break a 30-page document into 10-page chunks). All processing happens locally using the pdf-lib library, so your documents never leave your browser.

What is the difference between range extraction and every-N-pages splitting?⌄
Range extraction lets you specify exact page numbers like "1,3,5-9" to pull out only those pages into a new PDF. Every-N-pages splitting automatically divides the entire document into equal-sized chunks — for example, splitting a 30-page PDF every 10 pages produces three 10-page PDFs.
Can I extract non-consecutive pages?⌄
Yes. In range mode, you can enter comma-separated page numbers and ranges, such as "1,3,5-9,15". The tool will extract exactly those pages and combine them into a single output PDF in the order you specified.
Does splitting affect the quality of the PDF content?⌄
No. Splitting copies pages exactly as they are without re-encoding or recompressing. Text, images, and embedded fonts in the extracted pages remain identical to the original. The only change is which pages are included.
Can I split an encrypted or password-protected PDF?⌄
If the PDF requires a password to open, you will need to unlock it first using our PDF Password Remover tool. If the PDF only has permissions restrictions (like preventing copying), the splitter can still process it in most cases.
