Adding text to an image lets you create captions, titles, labels, or annotations directly on your photos. Unlike watermarking, which applies subtle branding marks, this tool is designed for large, prominent text that is the focal point of the image. Choose from 8 web-safe font families, adjust the font size from 12px to 200px, pick any text color, add an optional background highlight with adjustable opacity, and position the text at the top, center, bottom, or anywhere on the image with free positioning. A live preview shows the text rendered on your image in real time as you adjust settings. All processing happens in your browser using the Canvas API.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add multiple text elements to the same image?⌄
The tool supports multi-line text — press Enter in the text field to add line breaks. Each line is rendered with the same font, size, and color settings. For multiple independent text elements with different styles, you would need to process the image multiple times, each time adding one text element and using the output as the input for the next.
How does free positioning work?⌄
Select "Free position" and use the horizontal and vertical sliders to place the text anywhere on the image. The horizontal slider moves the text left to right (0-100%), and the vertical slider moves it top to bottom (0-100%). The text alignment (left, center, right) determines how the text anchors relative to that position.
Why does my text look different from the preview?⌄
The preview renders at a reduced scale for display, but the final output uses the full image resolution with proportionally scaled font size. The visual appearance — font, color, position, alignment — matches exactly. Only the pixel dimensions differ between preview and output.
Can I use custom fonts that are not in the list?⌄
The tool offers 8 web-safe font families that are universally available across all devices and browsers. Custom font files cannot be loaded directly because the Canvas API requires fonts to be available in the browser environment. The web-safe fonts cover the most common use cases for captions and overlays.
Does the background highlight support rounded corners or padding?⌄
The background highlight is a solid rectangle behind the text with adjustable opacity from 0% (transparent) to 100% (fully opaque). It includes 8px of padding around the text. Rounded corners and custom padding are not supported in this version.
